What is the future region of digital health?

Welcome to the “Future Region of Digital Health”. The “Digital Health Future Region” (ZDG) is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Health that runs until 2022. This initiative aims to bring digital solutions into greater practical application to gain insights into their use in healthcare.

A first sub-project of the future region tests “digital care offers” (DiVAs) directly in the everyday practice of doctors and patients. DiVAs are digital applications, such as smartphone apps or web applications, that support patients with chronic headaches or migraines in self-management of their illness. The migraine app from the Kiel Pain Clinic and the Techniker Krankenkasse was selected for use in the Federal Ministry of Health's Digital Health Future Region.

Who can participate?

Doctors with outpatient work in the Berlin area can take part. They can join the project as part of a selection process . patients they care for to take part in the project.

The migraine app was developed in collaboration with doctors specializing in the treatment of migraine and headache patients in the nationwide headache treatment network, headache scientists from the Kiel Pain Clinic, care experts from the Techniker Krankenkasse and self-help groups. The integration of the migraine app into the active care process leads to a demonstrable, significant benefit for those affected and the doctor. The digital care application documents the course of migraines and headaches with active data entry. It reports aggregated information from the data set and thus effectively helps in monitoring progress and success as well as adjusting therapy. The migraine app contains comprehensive reporting, information and self-help tools. The concept focuses on professional integration into the practical care of migraine and headache patients. The main goals are to make it easier to monitor progress and success, to increase adherence to therapy, to provide digital support and support during treatment under medical supervision, to motivate therapy, and to impart knowledge and skills regarding the clinical picture. In addition, digital networking takes place nationwide through self-help communities via a closed group on Facebook and the Headbook community, which at the same time creates a new digital form of self-help group organization.
