Kiel, February 4, 2019. The Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) is launching digital discharge management together with the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) and the Kiel Pain Clinic. In the future, TK insured people will receive their discharge report immediately after a hospital stay in the electronic health record (eGA) TK-Safe. This makes the treatment results more structured and accessible to patients and doctors without waiting times. This means that further outpatient treatment can be carried out more quickly and in a more targeted manner. Rudolf Dück, head of the information technology department at the UKSH, said: “The connection of the eGA to discharge management fits perfectly into the digital agenda of the UKSH. Our goal is to have a keyboard-free hospital without complicated bureaucracy for employees and patients.”

TK starts networking offensive in Schleswig-Holstein

In addition to the UKSH and the Kiel Pain Clinic, the NordBlick Eye Clinic Bellevue in Kiel and the Park Clinic Manhagen in Großhansdorf will also connect their discharge management to TK-Safe. To do this, the hospitals will connect their information systems with an interface created by IBM Germany, which will enable the discharge reports to be transmitted to TK-Safe. Another interface is intended to connect the Kiel pain clinic's migraine app with the file. The pain diary kept in the app can then be transferred to the eGA and made available to the treating doctor with all of the patient's collected health information. Prof. Dr. Hartmut Göbel, chief physician at the Kiel Pain Clinic, welcomes the integration of the migraine app in TK-Safe: “Both patients and doctors benefit from digital self-management. Bundling the data in an app ensures a further improvement in medical care, therapy rules can be implemented sustainably and self-competence can be increased.”

TK-Safe: digital data safe for health information

Together with IBM Germany, TK developed the electronic health record TK-Safe. Those insured by the fund can use this to store all medically relevant data such as X-rays, diagnoses or laboratory results on their smartphone in a structured and clear manner in one place and manage it themselves - protected by two-factor authentication. This means that the patient is the sole owner of their data and decides for themselves who they want to provide which information to. Diagnosis and therapy of diseases can be carried out more precisely with the help of eGA . “With the integration of discharge management and migraine app in TK-Safe, we are continuing to pursue our networking offensive in Schleswig-Holstein. Patients become managers of their health data, doctors are relieved and the transition from hospital to outpatient care becomes easier and safer for everyone involved,” says Dr. Johann Brunkhorst, head of the state representative of the Techniker Krankenkasse.
