The part-time master's degree program in Migraine and Headache Medicine was developed by the Kiel Pain Clinic in collaboration with the Departments of Neurology, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine and Neurosurgery at the Kiel Medical Faculty, the Institutes of Epidemiology, Ethics and Psychology and the Faculty's Ethics Committee . This is the first course in this field in Germany.

opening event took place on October 15, 2021 .

After greetings from the dean Prof. Dr. Joachim Thiery reported to Prof. Dr. Hartmut Göbel, head of the course, spoke about the current state of research in this area, the care of affected patients and the goals, content and implementation of the course.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Michael Illert, board member of the Center for Scientific Continuing Education at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel e. V. (ZwW), spoke about the basics of continuing academic education and the establishment of master's degree programs as a legal task of the university.  

The master’s degree program “Master of Migraine and Headache Medicine” breaks new ground in the German-speaking world. For the first time in Germany, a master's degree program on headaches and migraines is starting at the University of Kiel.

15 students from all over Germany are enrolled in the course. The International Headache Society welcomes and promotes the course. She awarded a full scholarship to an international applicant from Denmark from the Danish Headache Center, University of Copenhagen.

Following the opening event, there was a reception in the foyer and exchange.

By bus:
Bus lines 41, 42 to the Schwanenweg stop.

By car:
– From the south via the A7, Bordesholm motorway junction, A215 exit to Kiel-Zentrum.
– From the north via the A7, Rendsburg motorway junction, A210 exit to Kiel-Zentrum.
– Then towards the main train station and along the banks of the Förde to the UKSH campus in Kiel.

There is a parking garage directly in front of the former children's clinic (House U27) via the Schwanenweg entrance.

Parking options
During peak working hours (7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) at the UKSH, it can be difficult
to find a parking space in the immediate vicinity of the former children's clinic.
Parking spaces are available in the parking garage of the former children's clinic (Schwanenweg entrance) and on Kirchenstrasse on the designated shoulder
(subject to availability).
The parking garage on Arnold‐Heller‐Straße (Feldstraße entrance) offers around 900 parking spaces.
From there, the former children's clinic can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes via Feldstrasse, Nurses' Gang and Niemannsweg.
A fee is charged for parking in the parking garages

The parking lanes on the side streets in the immediate vicinity of the former children's clinic are
marked as residents' parking spaces (red circle marking in the illustration).
Free parking is
possible on the shoulder at Reventlouallee/Niemannsweg (green cross marking in the picture)
