The knowledge about precise classification, diagnosis and treatment of migraines and headaches has increased massively in the last decades. Clinical studies and extensive basic research have provided solid evidence for the effective treatment of migraines, primary and secondary headaches, facial pain and headaches Facial neuralgia created. In addition to the individual suffering, the great social significance of headache therapy also requires a profile and focus in this area. This increases the need for qualified migraine and headache experts who work across disciplines, know current research results and can transfer them into successful headache care.
In order to implement these new scientific findings, the Medical Faculty of the University of Kiel, in cooperation with the Kiel Pain Clinic, is offering the part-time master's degree program in Migraine and Headache Medicine from the winter semester of 2021/22. In the events, renowned and highly qualified lecturers present an interdisciplinary academic body of knowledge on the various topics of migraine and headache therapy, in which participants can actively contribute their different professional experiences and specialist knowledge. The variety of different teaching methods, public lectures, case seminars and group discussions provided for in the curriculum offer ideal conditions for this. Another central element are the extensive practical events in outpatient and clinical facilities.
As part of the master's degree program, there will be a public information event with a panel discussion on the topic of migraines and headache medicine for those affected and interested.
