Lecture Hall Old Children's Hospital, UKSH, Kiel Campus

Schwanenweg 20, 24105 Kiel

As part of the Master's program "Master of Migraine and Headache Medicine," the Center for Scientific Continuing Education at Kiel University invites patients, relatives, and other interested individuals to a public lecture. Experts will report on new developments in migraine and headache therapy. Following the lecture, a panel discussion will take place with board members from nationwide self-help groups on the topic.

The treatment of headaches has developed into one of the most successful and fascinating fields of medicine in recent years. Many causes of headaches have been uncovered. The mechanisms that maintain and worsen headaches are now understood in greater detail. Headaches can now be classified and diagnosed very precisely. Currently, 367 main types of headaches are distinguished. Most types of headaches can be treated precisely and with specialized care. For widespread headache types, especially migraine and tension-type headaches, prevention through behavioral adjustments, knowledge, and information plays a crucial role. Without understanding the underlying causes that lead to, maintain, and complicate headaches, successful and sustainable headache treatment is impossible. New and innovative medications are also available to headache patients today. However, this up-to-date and modern knowledge must be made readily available to those affected. To this end, entirely new approaches have been implemented in recent years to ensure that patients with headaches can be cared for in a modern and effective way in the future.

All interested parties are cordially invited to the free lecture event in the lecture hall.
