Pain has long been a central focus for Prof. Dr. Hartmut Göbel. As medical director of the Kiel Pain Clinic, he deals with it daily. A profile of the founder and head physician of the Kiel Pain Clinic. Prof. Dr. Hartmut Göbel is a specialist in migraines, headaches, and other neurological pain disorders.
Professor Dr. Hartmut Göbel studied psychology and medicine: “And pain is a unifying, central theme in both fields.” He quickly turned his attention to headaches, the “great pain we all know.” In 1997, Göbel founded the Kiel Pain Clinic, where he has since served as medical director, treating pain patients daily. Last year, he co-authored the world’s largest migraine study, which uncovered 44 new genetic keys to headaches.
What role does genetics play in migraines and headaches? What different forms are there? What does migraine have to do with creativity? And what's the story behind Richard Wagner's headache-inducing compositions? Hartmut Göbel answers these questions in “Classics à la carte”.
