Prof. Fumihiko Sakai, President of the Japanese Neurological Society and President of the Asian Headache Society, visited the Kiel Pain Clinic from March 1st to 2nd, 2009.
In Asia, the care of headache disorders is still developing, and Asian countries, particularly China, are planning to improve the situation by providing modern headache treatment. Professor Sakai, commissioned by Asian governments, gathered information on treatment strategies and procedures with the aim of making similar structures available to the Asian population.
It was agreed to establish an international working group to make developments in modern headache research directly available to sufferers worldwide. In a lecture, Prof. Sakai provided information on current topics in pain research and demonstrated specific treatment methods for pain in the head and shoulder muscles.
