Patients with cluster headaches and severe migraine attacks rely on the use of sumatriptan 6 mg via an autoinjector (pen). This device, similar to a ballpoint pen, delivers the active ingredient from a cartridge through a fine needle under the skin (i.e., subcutaneously, abbreviated sc) at the push of a button. In recent months, serious supply problems have arisen due to delivery difficulties.
Autoinjectors are currently available in different forms:
- Imigran 6 mg subcutaneous cartridges for replacement and use with the Glaxopen
- Sumatriptan 6 mg subcutaneously, Hormosan pre-filled syringe (single-use injector)
As has been announced, Sumatriptan 6 mg sc Hormosan will be available again from the beginning of May 1, 2016.
Thank God! When all else fails, an injection is the last resort to escape this hell.
Luckily for all of us, because when nothing else helps, the injection does help
