migraine app has been available for a year now . Over 70,000 people in Germany alone already use it regularly on Apple's iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Android devices. This has changed the way doctors consult their doctors. It's now commonplace for patients to place their smartphones on the table and show the app's quick overview during follow-up appointments and therapy adjustments. At a glance, the treating physician can see the progress of the past few months and how the treatment plan is working.
The figure above illustrates an example. Analysis of the 30 days prior to the follow-up appointment shows that headaches occurred on only one day. During these last 30 days, acute medication was required only on one day, and this proved effective. Overall, the patient experienced a very satisfactory course of treatment over the past 30 days.
The app's data provides a long-term overview for the months of April through September. At the start of treatment, headaches occurred on 13 days per month. Preventive treatment, including information, behavioral changes, and prophylactic medication, led to a significant improvement within the next three months. In May, headaches were still present on 12 days. By June, a further significant reduction to just two headache days per month was evident. This frequency was successfully maintained; headaches occurred on four days in July, none in August, and one day in September. The app thus demonstrates a very positive treatment outcome for the patient. The use of the migraine app documents the effectiveness of the treatment methods employed. The analysis motivates the patient to continue these methods regularly. The comprehensive information integrated into the app, progressive muscle relaxation, and social networking opportunities in digital self-help groups are also very helpful in this regard.
The aim of the migraine app is to compile and analyze information relevant to treatment. It was developed based on scientific principles by experts at the Kiel Pain Clinic in collaboration with the Techniker Krankenkasse (a German health insurance company), drawing on specialized clinical experience.
The migraine app can be downloaded for free for iOS and Android.

The migraine app is easy to use and very practical because you have an overview of everything, so you don't lose it and it's with you at all times.
I recently went to the pediatrician. He wanted to give me a pain calendar for my son. “I already have a migraine app,” he said, he didn’t know. He showed it to me and the doctor also downloaded the app. He thought it was great and said “that will happen.” I tell parents if their children have migraines, the parents usually lose the pain calendar or they forget to take it with them." So I have access at any time.
I also send the pain calendar to my doctors by email and am very happy with the migraine app.
