Patients with cluster headaches and severe migraine attacks rely on the use of sumatriptan 6 mg via an autoinjector (pen). This device, similar to a ballpoint pen, delivers the active ingredient from a cartridge through a fine needle under the skin (i.e., subcutaneously, abbreviated sc) at the push of a button. In recent months, serious supply problems have arisen due to delivery difficulties.
Autoinjectors currently come in different forms:
- Imigran 6 mg-sc cartridges for replacing and using with the Glaxopen
- Sumatriptan 6 mg sc Hormosan pre-filled syringe (single injector)
As has been announced, Sumatriptan 6 mg sc Hormosan will be available again from the beginning of May 1, 2016.
